Sidney T. Ward Owner/Master Barber and Instructor a native of Charleston, South Carolina, son of Genevieve Squire Ward was born November 23,1963 and raised in the Gadson Green Projects on the Westside of town. After graduating from A. B. Rhett Middle school his family moved to the upper Eastside of town which afforded him the opportunity to attend Charles A. Brown. During his freshman year, he had the opportunity to join one of the best High School Marching Bands in the city as part of the percussion section. The following year he joined the brass section playing trumpet and during his Junior year he became section leader. Unfortunately, he decided not to march his senior year. After graduating in 1982, he decided to stay at home to care for his mother who was stricken with Colon Cancer. Upon her passing, he made the decision to enlist into the United States Army where he served eight years, stationed at Fort Ord Army Base located Monterey Bay, California.
After working in Corporate America for over fifteen years as an Electronic Technician at the Charleston Airforce Base as a contractor on the base information system, he made a decision to leave corporate in order to pursue a childhood dream of becoming a Licensed Barber. At the age of fourteen, his interest in barbering was sparked by watching his older brother James W. Ward cut the hair of family and friends. Upon completion of an On-the-Job Training Program at Hair Designs by Daurus and meeting all requirements to be license in the State of South Carolina, Sidney obtained his Master Haircare Specialist License in 2001 and later received his Barber Instructor License in 2015.
Prior to establishing Sidney’s Professional Barber Studio LLC which was founded in 2010, Sidney realized the need for a family friendly environment with a professional and relaxing atmosphere within our community. One that could also serve a diverse clientele. While living a purposeful life, he realized that his purpose is to help others, especially those that are in need of assistance. So often Sidney has heard children of the community be referred to as “At-Risk.” At one point, he was once one of them and this is his driving force for establishing opportunities within the Beauty and Barbering industry for young people
